    carpal update

    saw a doctor, as omar and others commented below, this is not something to take lightly.  the doctor poked my hand with a bunch of needles and said the numb areas were consistent with a certain nerve getting pinched due to inflamation of the muscles and stuff squeezing the nerve.

    her reco was to wear a special brace which prevents me from bending my wrists (and makes it really hard to use the laptop) and also doing an overhaul of my workstation to ensure i am not craning, bending, or slouching in any way.

    WHICH I DID.. AFTER 4 SESSIONS, MY ARMS AND FINGERS ARE BACK TO NORMAL.....  THERE ARE
    ALOT OF NERVES IN THERE, AND A GOOD CHINESE ACCUPUNTURIST CAN LOCATE THEM AND GIVE YOU TOTAL RELIEF.. JUST ALWAYS MAKE SURE THE NEEDLES ARE BEING TAKEN OUT OF NEW PACKAGES.. IF NOT, RUN FOR YOUR LIFE.... DON'T LET THEM REUSE OLD ONES ON YOU.. SINCE THE NEEDLES ARE SO CHEAP, I'VE NEVER FOUND ANYONE WHO USE'S OLD ONES THOUGH....

    if this affects your work, get help from your employer since this may be a legally protected disability.  they have provide some meaningful assistance that doesn't cost too much.   the added bonus if you have performance issues, you'll effectively buy yourself an additional six months before they can terminate your employment to avoid your retaliation claim.
